Saw ads for the past month about switching cell service to T-Mobile and you'll get a new iPhone 16, they'll pay off any balance on your current phone and you can keep your current phones. While we weren't necessarily dissatisfied with AT&T, our bills were high for two senior citizens at $256/month. So we went into T-Mobile and the service rep said we'll give you two free iPhone 16s, pay off old phones and you can keep them and we'll lower your bill to $166/month, all-in, if you set up auto-pay, which we did. A few days later, we went into AT&T to pay off old phones so we could submit the paid-off invoice to T-Mobile and get reimbursed (it was not clear during the switch process that you have to pay and get a prepaid Mastercard after the fact until we got home and read more fine print). At the same time, while at AT&T, I received a text message that the monthly bill for T-Mobile would be deducted soon for $196! This was $30 more than indicated by the rep we dealt with. I told the AT&T rep and, lo and behold, he said AT&T has a plan for seniors for $35/month for each of you if you switch back. When we asked why we weren't offered that plan while having been customers for over 20 years, a bunch of excuses were given, such as you have to ask for it. So, ugh—we switch back and keep old phones. Next, we proceed to try and get our $150 activation fees refunded at T-Mobile due to the bill not being what we were told, and also a payment plan for 36 months for the 2 free phones on the bill. Not only does T-Mobile not refund the $150 activation fees, but they ask for a $95 restocking fee to take back 3-day-old phones! I waited on hold/spoke to an 800# customer service for a total of over 6 hours on the phone, went back to the store (the manager is the only one who can talk to you and is never in). Finally, I just paid the restocking fee and have disputed all of this on my AMEX card. It was not a question of buyer's remorse which entitles you to a 14-day return (requiring payments for restocking), it was not what we were sold.
1. Phones were not free payment plan on bill
2. Bill was $30 more than we were promised all-in
We'll see if AMEX delivers. We submitted copies of all to them.
Will never recommend T-Mobile. Customer service is non-existent in-store and on the phone. Even while patiently waiting on hold with one rep for over 40 minutes, they hung up on me. Horrible company taking advantage of senior citizens! Zero stars.

T-Mobile's home internet promotional rebate

I set up in April 2025 for T-Mobile's home internet they said they were going to give me a promotional rebate of $200 yet still in July I haven't received my rebate currently just lost my job and I won't need it to use that to pay the bill so that I can still keep my service they still haven't sent it. I find that highly convenient due to tricking customers to get into their service with a fake promotional rebate I've had so many services before that would send the rebate to you after at least your second bill but no not with T-Mobile . Also when I set up the account the sales rep put in my wrong address just to get a sale to send me the home internet I had to call back just to set up the home address just to resend it out I find that poor customer service and deceitful as well as dishonest
