This cell phone voicemail practice costs you too

TMobile complaint by Zohaizolo
Subtle cell phone company practice costs you.

My provider and many other cell phone companies tack a 10-15 second message to our voicemail greetings telling callers that they can press a key to leave a message or another key to leave a number, and yet another key to hang up.

It's expensive. Cell phone minutes are billed in 60 second increments, e.g. 61 seconds is billed as 2 minutes. The more voicemails we make (all short calls) the more expensive it is. And, when we recover our messages we're billed for the entire time the caller was on the line....so we pay twice for those unnecessary 10-15 seconds.

Perhaps 3% to 10% of my phone bill is wasted on listening to these obnoxious greeting add-ons.

For all of us it adds up to millions of dollars of wasted cell phone time.

My provider's service reps told me they couldn’t remove it, and advised me to e-mail the company. But e-mail through my personal account website was consistently refused with a error message.
